Expansions/Relocations

The Colony Economic Development Corporation is working proactively with partners including Jackson-Shaw to bring jobs and revenue to the City. Efforts paid off during the first quarter of 2010 as three new major tenants leased over 50,000 square feet of space in The Cascades at The Colony, a 100-acre master-planned community developed by Jackson-Shaw along the S.H. 121 corridor. The development includes 280 residences built by KB Homes and approximately 500,000 square feet of commercial space constructed by Jackson-Shaw. The new tenants are:

  • Lakeland Marketing, a leading supplier of marketing supplies to the foodservice industry. The company signed a five-year lease for 8,000 square feet of office space.
  • Tuffronts, a manufacturer of pre-cut vending machine panels and supplies, which signed a six-year lease for 27,230 square feet of office and manufacturing space.
  • Write Now! Office Products, one of the nation’s fastest growing office supply distributors. The company signed a five-year lease for 15,500 square feet of office and warehouse space.

Phase II of The Cascades commercial space is complete and includes a new Marriott Residence Inn and Marriott Fairfield Inn. Together, the hotels bring more than 200 rooms to the area. Incentive support from The Colony’s Economic Development Corporation helped land these significant projects. Phase I of The Cascades consisted of six office-flex buildings that are partially occupied. The commercial portion of The Cascades has approximately 200,000 square feet dedicated to flex-industrial space, 100,000 square feet of retail space, restaurant pad sites and up to 200,000 square feet of office space. Edward Don & Company, a national distributor of food service equipment and supplies, built a new 187,000-square-foot distribution center bringing approximately 100 employees to The Colony. The project is located on Plano Parkway along with the current Pizza Inn Corporate Headquarters.

Developments

Austin Ranch, located just west of the Dallas North Tollway and south of S.H. 121, has over 1,900 acres of prime real estate for corporate campuses, commercial offices, industrial distribution parks, retail strip centers, pad sites, multi-family and single-family. Over 900 acres of the master-planned development are within The Colony city limits. Austin Ranch currently has 20,000 square feet of existing retail space, which includes Austin Square, located in the heart of the multi-family component with a vibrant collection of retail shops, cafes and restaurants including Café Gecko and Zen Café. Phase V of the project is now underway and will double the space available. Austin Ranch was chosen for the corporate offices of Freddie Mac, Pizza Inn, Hillman Fastners, Edward Don and most recently, BeautiControl.
