Here’s an update on the latest news and events taking place in Mesquite, Texas:


Super Target opens October 11, 2009. This will be one of the largest Super Target stores ever built and is the anchor to the Market East Shopping Center.

Market East Shopping Center is undergoing a complete renovation that includes a new façade, landscaping, and renewal of public areas. In addition, two obsolete retail spaces were demolished and new retail space created that improves the flow and visibility of the center from Town East Boulevard.

BJ’s Restaurant has opened in Town East Mall.

Cheddar’s is coming to the former Bennigan’s site at IH 635 and Gross Road.

Braum’s is building a new retail store at Galloway and Town East Boulevard.

IHOP is building a new restaurant at Greenbelt Parkway and IH 30 under the City’s new development standards, promising the best looking IHOP in the Metroplex!

Zaina’s World Food Market and Amir’s Café & Bakery have opened in a newly renovated store at Galloway and Town East Boulevard.

Aldi is scheduled to open in the spring of 2010 in a newly renovated grocery store at Driftwood Drive and Gus Thomasson Road.

Development News

The rebuilding of IH 635 is complete! New exit and entry ramps and additional lanes give greater access to The Rows of Texas retail and restaurant rows and a great looking front door to Mesquite has opened.

Peachtree Towne Centre phase 1 is nearing completion. Peachtree Towne Centre is a 60-acre mixed use development, the first under the City’s Project Renewal initiative.

One of the nation’s largest data centers is under construction. Totaling over 880,000 square feet, the center will offer one of the greatest concentrations of power and connectivity in the country.

Dallas Regional Medical Center has opened a $6 million cardiac care unit and is in the planning stages for new $12 million medical office building.

Medical Office Buildings are under construction on Childress and Galloway.

Discount Tire is building a new store at Greenbelt Parkway and IH 30 under the City’s new development standards, promising the best looking tire store in the Metroplex!

Firestone is building a new store in Old Town Mesquite.

Eastfield College is concluding construction of a Workforce Training Center and a Child Development Center.

The City of Mesquite has completed a new Police building and a new City Hall is planned for construction in the fall of 2009.

Other News

The world famous Mesquite Championship Rodeo and Resistol Arena is under new ownership and providing new and exciting events as well as adding new twists to the classic sport of rodeo.

Real. Texas. Festival. concluded its 3rd year with record attendance of more than 23,000 people and is preparing for its 4th year on April 23rd and 24th, 2010.
