Here’s an update on the latest news and events taking place in Denton, Texas:

Expansions/Relocations

Aldi has recently opened its distribution and warehouse facility in Denton near the airport. The building encompasses approximately 500,000 square feet and is expected to employ 120 people. The distribution center serves the entire North Texas region, which includes more than 20 stores.

Developments

Rayzor Ranch has seen building activity increase, especially on the north side of the development. Several tenants, in addition to Sam’s Club and Wal-Mart are expected to open in the fall.

Development in Denton has been moving right along in recent months, with many projects either nearing completion or starting operations. One of the most visible projects that people will see running around Denton is the A-Train. Construction has been ongoing on the rail portion for several months, and both stations in Denton have broke ground and started construction. The Med Park station, located in south Denton, near Denton Regional Medical Center, will have parking for those wishing to utilize the A-Train for travel outside of Denton and connections with DART. The downtown station will be located just east of the square across the street from City Hall East.

Other News

With the Super Bowl just around the corner in February, all of North Texas is getting in on the excitement. The Denton Airport is going to serve a critical need for the time around the game. The airport is one of only a few that is located outside of the restricted air space surrounding the stadium, but within an hour travel time to the stadium. In anticipation for this and the overall growth that has been ongoing at the airport, the runway is being extended 1000’ feet to allow for larger jets to utilize the airport.
